Support » Theme: Neve » Neve Customizer doesn’t work

  • A few days ago I installed “Neve” and set up a child theme. That worked out fine. Then I made numerous settings in the Customizer, which also worked out well. But since yesterday the customizer doesn’t open anymore, only a blank page is displayed, I can no longer make any settings. Please help me!

    Hello @nmw17 ,

    Thank you for choosing Neve!

This might be caused by a conflict in the plugins.
In case you don’t know which plugin causes the conflict, then just disable all plugins and see if it solves the Customizer issue.

If you have a cache plugin or server cache, you need to delete its cache content and disable it.
Deactivate all of your plugins at once.
Clear your browser history and visit Appearance > Customize to see if it works. If it works properly, there is a high chance that your server is not having enough memory.
    Re-activate plugins, one by one.
After each activation, visit Appearance > Customize to see if it works. If the problem reoccurs, then you’ll know which plugin needs more attention.
When you’ve found the plugin that breaks your Customizer, you can:

Keep that plugin activated and deactivate all other plugins.
Visit Appearance > Customize to see if it works.
If it works, it’s probably not the plugin conflict but your server is not having enough resources.
If it doesn’t, then you’ve found a plugin causing conflict.

IF nothing worked please provide the correct URL to your website so we can futher assist you!

Thank you and have a great day!

Thank you for your tips. Unfortunately none of this helped. After various actions such as clearing the cache, deactivating / activating all plugins, reinstalling WordPress and the theme, and many other attempts, the customizer definitely did not work. I also found that the Neve theme is completely overloaded with functions. So I’ve now decided on a different theme.

    Hello @nmw17 ,

We’re sorry to hear that you decide to move to another theme, we try to keep our theme as fast and light as possible and it’s actually one of the fastest themes currently in the market.
In your case, as there is some conflict it would be needed to check the server log for the specific errors that were thrown to better understand what could have been the reason, maybe it’s just some server limit that was being hit but it could be many different reasons so it requires further investigation.
We appreciate your feedback and if you have any advice about the specific functions that you think are not required and make the theme overloaded we are always happy to forward the feedback to our developers.

Thank you once again and we hope to see you back using the Neve theme in the future!

Check if you are using mod pagespeed in your server or if your hosting is using it.
I just found it breaks some CSS rules and messes everythings up. You could change the styles and see the changes but after saving there is no any change. Or make it change but then reset somewhere or applies different styles…
Its ridiculous a google module still doesnt work properly minifying…anyway, check that.
