Importing a bunch of galleries from NextGen Gallery to FooGallery.

I had one NextGEN gallery named “Cars & Canines” with 48 images
this one gallery imported 95 images into one FooGallery, 4 images into a second FooGallery and 1 image into a third FooGallery. The images appear to have duplicated in the primary FooGallery — the import process then hung at 100% (but never marked “complete”)

this failure might be because of the ampersand (&)

Later, I had another import fail. In this case, the images were too large for the server to process. Clicking “resume import” resulted in another, separate gallery being created (which then failed again).

Suggestion: On a failure to import — some sort of dialogue other than just
    “failed” would be useful.

    Hi @kindred

If the import process is failing constantly like in your case, then most of the time it’s because the script running has been stopped from running since the time it’s been running is exceeding the maximum PHP time limit set, and this is what is most likely happening in your case.

Could you kindly try to increase the PHP time limit and once that’s done please let me know? Here’s a great guide on how to do so:

If unsure, you can consult with your developer regarding how to do so.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks for the response.

The firt failure definitely had to do with the ampersand in the title.
After I changed the title of the NextGEN gallery to “Cars and Canines” instead of “Cars & Canines”, the import succeeded without issue.

The second failure definitely had to do with server resources — the files were huge and the images were 9000pixels wide. I stopped trying after the system created 4 duplicate (empty) FooGalleries, used GIMP on my local computer to reduce the image size (which reduced the file size as well) and uploaded directly to the FooGallery rather than trying the import again.
