Support » Theme: PopularFX » Footer credit line breaking my page

  • Dear team member,
    I intended to remove a footer credit from my website (which uses WordPress 5.6) that I’m building, but was stuck with this issue:
    1) I installed “remove footer credit” plugin to remove the footer credit cleanly but it just didn’t work (don’t know why???)
    SO had to do it directly on the footer.php file of my theme which looks like below
    ———–
    <?php
    /**
    * The template for displaying the footer
    *
    * Contains the closing of the #content div and all content after.
    *
    * @link https://developer.wporg.ibadboy.net/themes/basics/template-files/#template-partials
    *
    * @package
    */

    $footer_text = get_theme_mod(‘ABC_footer_text’);

    ?>
    <footer id=”colophon” class=”site-footer”>
    <div class=”site-info”>
    <?php if(empty($footer_text)){ ?>
    “>
    <?php
    /* translators: %s: CMS name, i.e. WordPress. */
    // printf( esc_html__( ‘Proudly powered by %s’, ‘ABC’ ), ‘XYZ’ );
    ?>

    <span class=”sep”> | </span>
    <?php
    /* translators: 1: Theme name, 2: Theme author. */
    printf( ABC_theme_credits() );
    ?>
    <?php }else{
    echo wp_kses($footer_text, ‘post’);
    } ?>
    </div><!– .site-info –>
    </footer><!– #colophon –>
    </div><!– #page –>
    ——————————–

    Then I downloaded the original file and commented (//) the printf line above which worked as no words are displayed on my page now, but there’s still a thick black line that enveloped the former footer credit which still breaks my page!!
    How and where can I remove this thick black line ??

    Thank you for your advice!

    Hi,

    Your footer.php should have just the following :

    </div><!– #page –>
    <?php wp_footer(); ?>
    </body>
    </html>

    You can remove everything else.

    Regards
